Dr. John Simpson is an Account Executive with McKinstry, a national energy and facility services firm, where he partners with school districts across Missouri on facility planning, energy performance contracting, and infrastructure modernization. Dr. Simpson served as Superintendent of Schools for the Webster Groves School District from 2016 to 2025, overseeing a $70 million operating budget, 750 staff members, and more than 1 million square feet of facilities. In that role, he led the community through a series of consequential public decisions — the redrawing of elementary attendance boundaries, the district's COVID-19 Return to School Plan, and two successful bond campaigns resulting in over $65 million in facility improvements — and convened regional forums giving districts and community members a platform to examine proposed legislation affecting public education. He previously served the district as Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, where he co-designed a community research process that engaged residents in conceptualizing an innovation school. Dr. Simpson is an Adjunct Professor at Maryville University, teaching Advanced School Law in the Education Doctorate program, where his coursework addresses free expression, legal decision-making, and leadership ethics in public institutions. He formerly served on the board of the Voluntary Interdistrict Choice Corporation, including as Board Chair in 2022–23. He received a B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri–Columbia and a Doctorate of Education in Education Administration from Maryville University.
